Dems position candidates for election in November

OLEAN—City of Olean Democrats have authorized former Ward 6 alderman and registered Conservative Gary “Casey” Jones to circulate petitions to run on the Democratic ticket for alderman in the November election.

Cattaraugus County Legislator Linda Witte, representing District 10, is the committee’s mayoral candidate, who is also running on the Independence and Working Families lines.

Incumbent Democrats Mike Kayes in Ward 2 and Frank Steffen Jr. in Ward 7 are seeking re-election and the committee is seeking candidates in Ward 4. Candidates should contact Joyce Melfi, City of Olean Democratic Committee Chairwoman, at 372-4838 before the next committee meeting at 7 p. m. July 23 in Steelworkers’ Hall, 1120 N. Union St. All registered Democrats are welcome to attend.
