TOWN MEETING:Western New York Independent Living is hosting a town meeting with Mayor Byron W. FESTIVAL OF HOPE:Genesee Cancer Assistance Services will hold its annual Festival of Hope cancer fundraiser at 5 p. m. Friday at Batavia Downs, 8315 Park Road, Batavia. The festivities include a kids zone, 5-K Run for hope, a Walk for Hope, and a ticket auction. For details, call (585) 507-8139.

YARD SALE: Second Chance Sheltering Network is holding a yard sale and chicken barbecue at 1761 Transit Road, Elma, from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Featured are chicken, roll and two salads, fresh apple or cherry pies and beverages. The cost is $8.50, and takeouts are available.

HIGGINS OUTREACH:The office of Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, on Friday will present “Congress on Your Corner,” which offers satellite hours for residents of Chautauqua County. Staff members will be on hand to answer residents’ questions from 9 to 11 a. m. at Portland Town Hall, 87 West Main St., Brocton; 11:30 a. m. to noon at Dunkirk Senior Center, 45 Franklin St.; and 1 to 3 p. m. at in the mayor’s conference room on the second floor of Dunkirk City Hall. MUSIC FESTIVAL: St. Amelia Parish Community presents “Jammin’ in June” Music Festival from 5 to 11 p. m. Saturday and noon to 5 p. m. Sunday, 2999 Eggert Road, Town of Tonawanda. The event will feature live music, food and drink, games, bounce houses, clowns, raffles and more. Admission is $5 for adults; children under 10 are free.

BISHOP TIMON DINNER: Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School will hold its fifth annual Kaleidoscope Dinner from 6 to 11 p. m. Saturday in Adam’s Mark Hotel, 120 Church St. The event will feature silent and live auctions, with proceeds going toward tuition assistance for students. For details, call 826-3610.

FLEA MARKET:The Playground Project Hope Fund will hold a flea market from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. Saturday at West Seneca East Elementary, 1415 Center Road.

FUNDRAISER:The Buffalo Museum of Science will hold its fifth annual Star Lights, Drinks and Bites event from 8 p. m. to midnight Saturday at the museum, 1020 Humboldt Parkway. Wine tasting and snacks from area restaurants; belly dancing performances. Proceeds from the event will benefit programming at the museum. Cost: $35, museum members, $40, nonmembers, at door.
