BATAVIA

20,000th student graduates at GCC’s commencement

BATAVIA—With more than 700 students receiving diplomas at commencement exercises Sunday, Genesee Community College marked its 20,000th graduate since it held its first ceremony in 1968.

Dr. Ruth Andes, professor of sociology and assistant dean for special projects, gave the address.

Associated with GCC since 1970, she has received the most awards of any faculty member in the college’s history and has received numerous academic honors from the State University of New York.
