CHILD SAFETY: State Sen. George Maziarz will host a free Child Safety Day from 9 a. m. to noon Saturday at his district office, 2578 Niagara Falls Blvd., Wheatfield. Featured will be child ID kits and fingerprinting, car seat safety checks, the K-9 unit from the North Tonawanda Police Department, the mounted patrol from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, a fire truck and fire safety robot from Frontier Volunteer Fire Company and child safety brochures and information. Entertainment will include DoDo the Clown, a bounce house and refreshments.
ST. JOE’S OPEN HOUSE:St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute will hold a Legacy Open House from noon to 3 p. m. Saturday at the school, 845 Kenmore Ave., Town of Tonawanda. The event, created to introduce future generations of students to St. Joe’s, is open to anyone with past connections to the school. For details, call 874-4953.
FLEA MARKET:The East Pembroke Fire Department will hold its annual Flea Market and Craft Show from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. Saturday and Sunday at the fire department’s pavilion at 2623 W. Main St., Route 5, East Pembroke. Sunday will feature a chicken barbecue starting at 11:30 a. m.
BOATING COURSE:The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will present an America Boats Safely (ABS) course from 8 a. m. to 4 p. m. Saturday at the Sheridan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post on Route 20 in Sheridan. The course meets all federal and state requirements for jet ski operation, underage operation of any vessel and is an excellent resource for boaters of all ages on local waters. A light lunch will be provided as well as coffee and doughnuts in the morning or participants can bring their own lunch. For reservations, call Robert Moscato at 681-3889.
