Portville’s water rated best at home and garden show

OLEAN—More than 4,600 visitors came to the 38th annual Greater Olean Area Home and Garden Show over the weekend in the William O. Smith Recreation Center, the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce reports.
Winner of the best-tasting water contest sponsored by the Cattaraugus County Health Department was the Village of Portville, which will go on to compete in a regional competition to qualify for the state contest. Runners-up were the Town of Hinsdale and the City of Olean.
Winner of the Best Booth contest among vendors was the Wayne Companies. Hammond’s Furniture Store was second and Shelby Glass Block was third.
