Stimulus funds to aid work on two aging dams
A total of $2.4 million in federal stimulus funds is coming to rehabilitate two aging dams on Conewango Creek in Chautauqua County, Sens. Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY, report.
The money, provided through the U. S. Department of Agriculture, will be used to repair and heighten Conewango 3, which protects the Town of Cherry Creek, and Conewango 6, which protects the Village of Silver Creek. State and local sources will provide 35 percent of the funding for these projects.
