Elma woman accused of robbing migrant workers in their homes

LITTLE VALLEY — An Elma woman who befriended migrant workers has been charged with robbing them of money in their homes.

Samantha Andress, 18, has been indicted by a Cattaraugus County grand jury on multiple charges of first-and second-degree robbery, first-degree attempted robbery, counts of first-and second- degree burglary and counts of first-and second-degree criminal use of a firearm.

District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said that in the Town of Freedom on Sept. 2, Andress and another person, displaying a weapon, entered workers’ homes to steal money.

Sharkey said Andress had apparently dated one of the workers. Her accomplice also faces charges and is still at-large.

In another indictment, Joshua

J. Kinder, 17, of Olean and Shane

M. Gogel, 18, of Salamanca were jointly indicted on charges of first-and third-degree rape and third-degree assault, Dec. 9 in the City of Salamanca. The victim was younger than 18, authorities said.

Shawn M. Sylvia, 28; Michael A. Sylvia, 21, and Jesse Pikuzinski, 23, all of Buffalo were jointly indicted on charges of second-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree burglary and possession of burglar’s tools. Also, Shawn Sylvia was also charged with third-degree unlicensed vehicle operation and having an unregistered vehicle.

Sharkey said the crime occurred in the Town of Machias on Aug. 26.

All will be arraigned before Judge Larry M Himelein March 9.
