Repeat felon sentenced
LITTLE VALLEY — An Olean man was sentenced Monday in Cattaraugus County Court as a repeat violent felon to five years in prison for injuring two people at a home in the City of Olean.
Alfonso F. Flores, 29, was sentenced by Judge Larry M. Himelein to serve the five-year term for his conviction of second- degree assault Aug. 18, 2007, involving a house fight during which several people, including Flores, were stabbed.
District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said Flores is a repeat violent felony offender and must serve six-sevenths of his sentence before being eligible for parole. Once released from prison, Flores faces three years of post-release supervision.
Sharkey said several others were also sentenced.
• Jared P. Black, 28, of Salamanca, was sentenced to serve one to three years in prison for his conviction of second-degree vehicular assault and fined $1,000 for his conviction of driving while intoxicated Jan. 1, 2008, in the Town of Dayton when his driving caused serious injury to another person.
•Alan W. Sagar, 59, of Delevan, was sentenced to serve one to three years in prison concurrent with an unelated sentence he is now serving and fined $1,000 for his conviction of DWI July 24, 2007, in the Town of Yorkshire.
• Ronald Harris, 37, of Buffalo, was sentenced to one year in prison for his conviction of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, Dec. 14, 2007, in the City of Olean. He also faces one year of post-release supervision.
• Jared T. Capra, 22, of Olean, was sentenced to six months in jail and five years’ probation for his conviction of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance June 13 in the City of Olean involving the sale of a narcotic drug.
•Andrew J. Haynes, 37, of Holland, was sentenced to five years’ probation and fined $3,000 for his conviction of DWI Oct. 20, 2006, in the Town of Yorkshire.
Sentencing was set for May 18 for John H. Hudson Jr., 24, of Salamanca, who pleaded guilty to DWI and driving without a license Dec. 10 in the City of Salamanca.
April 27 was set for sentencing for Garth VanEvery, 34, of Irving, who pleaded guilty to DWI April 13 in the City of Salamanca when he had a blood alcohol count of 0.23 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.
