Spring start expected on wireless project

Story tools:

SALAMANCA — The members of the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board learned last week that a Universal Broadband Grant application is moving forward after delays beginning in March when it was chosen for full funding by the state Office of Technology.

Construction of the project is expected to begin in the spring and will provide wireless services to the Allegany County towns of Alma, Allen, Burns, Caneadea, Granger, Grove and Rushford.

The next meeting of the board will be at 1 p. m. Feb. 19 in Southern Tier West offices.
