CATTARAUGUS COUNTY

Feature invites visitors to download info to GPS

Story tools:

LITTLE VALLEY — Visitors to Cattaraugus County can now use their vehicles’ global positioning systems to zero in on well-known restaurants and destinations, as well as obscure tourist stops, snowmobile trail crossings and even fishing holes.

The development is thanks to a new Web page where up-to-the-minute local points of interest can be downloaded. The Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism’s Web page is found on the county’s tourism Web site, www.EnchantedMountains.info . “The department is using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to convert [points of interest] for use with most GPS units,” said department Director Joe Williams, who spearheaded the county’s newest marketing strategy.
