Board approves budget with 5% spending hike
SILVER CREEK — Spending will go up by about 5 percent under a budget approved Monday by the Hanover Town Board.
Board members unanimously approved the spending plan. The general tax rate will be $2.58 outside the villages and $2.91 in the villages of Forestville and Silver Creek.
Budget Officer Elmar Kiefer said the average home in the township is assessed at about $72,000 and that the increase in taxes will amount to about $9.36 for the year. The rate does not include special district taxes, which may include lighting, water, sewer and fire district fees.
