SILVER CREEK — A police officer from the village Police Department will serve as a resource officer at Forestville Central School.

The agreement was approved Monday during the regular meeting of the Village Board.

Mayor Kurt Lindstrom said it was the first time that a village officers would be assigned to another school district.

The Silver Creek School District also has a resource officer.

Police Chief Timothy Roche said the school approached him about the resource officer program and came to an agreement about the service, which will be funded with state money channeled through the Forestville district. Officials did not provide a specific cost but said the state would cover the salary for the time the officer is assigned to the district, which will be one day a week.

The Hanover Town Board and Forestville Village Board also were required to approve the program.

In other action:

• The Police Department received kudos from the mayor and board members for a safe Halloween. Chief Roche said three patrols were out and there were no incidents reported.

• Landlords would be required to receive certificates of compliance for all rental properties in the village under a proposed local law.

The proposal will be presented at a meeting at 7:45 p. m. on Nov. 17 in Village Hall.

Landlords with questions about the new compliance code can pick up a copy in the village clerk’s office.

Lindstrom said the topic has been before the Planning Board and he is pleased with the new regulations, which follow state building codes.
