IDA will hold forums on alternative energy
ELLICOTTVILLE — The Cattaraugus County Industrial Development Agency will hold a series of forums on wind and other alternative energy economic development projects.
IDA Chairman Thomas Buffamante announced that the first three sessions in a series of seven forums called “Wind Community Outreach” have been scheduled for Wednesday in the Delevan Elementary School auditorium; Oct. 22 in the Allegany-Limestone High School auditorium and Oct. 29 in the Randolph Central School auditorium. Others forums will be announced. All sessions get under way at 6:30 p. m.
The IDA anticipates receiving applications for several such projects valued at $200 million or more over the next few months.
The IDA “has been aggressively exploring all facets of wind, solar and methane over the past 15 months,” IDA Chairman Thomas Buffamante said. “Over the next three years, up to $800 million by three developers may be invested in Cattaraugus County for these projects.”
IDA Director Corey Wiktor said he hopes the forums will dispel some official misconceptions on tax concerns.
“Over the past 15 months,” he noted, “[the IDA has] met with and received feedback from every level of government officials at the municipal, school and county level.
