Pfeiffer Nature Center set for holiday weekend
PORTVILLE — Families are urged to indulge in “green time” over the Columbus Day weekend by joining in The National Wildlife Federation’s Make Tracks! Family Trail Weekend at the Pfeiffer Nature Center.
Participants can explore the area by biking or hiking on the trails and paths. Several free activities are offered today, beginning with “Find Your Way Using a Compass” at 9 a. m.; “Animal Tracks” at 10 a. m., and “Family Nature Walk” at 11 a. m. Also, the center will offer a high-tech treasure hunt.
A new Web site, maketracks.org, provides a list of supplies, tips for family-friendly activities and a link to Nature- Find, a database to locate nearby trails and parks by entering your ZIP code. Families can register to join the Green Hour movement at greenhour.org.
