Pfeiffer Nature Center to offer ‘owl prowl’
PORTVILLE — Mark Baker and John Forness of Hawk Hideaway will preface an “owl prowl” today in the Pfeiffer Nature Center with an introduction to local species beginning at 6:30 p. m.
Participants are taken on a guided night walk in the forest to call, hear and possibly see the nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat, concluding with an investigation of owl pellets and a warm cup of cocoa.
Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring flashlights. Preregistration is required, and admission is $10 for families, $3 for individuals. To obtain information or to register, call 933-0187. The Pfeiffer Center is located at 1974 Lillibridge Road. The center’s Web site can be found at http:// www.pfeiffernaturecenter.org/ .
