Districts to discuss school merger
BROCTON — The Brocton and Fredonia Central School Boards will meet in joint session Wednesday in the Erie 2 Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES LoGuidice Center, Fredonia.
They will review four proposals submitted following their recent request for a merger feasibility study.
The meeting has been called by Board of Cooperative Educational Services Superintendent Robert Guiffreda, who is acting as impartial facilitator in the proposed two-district consolidation.
The Brocton School Board on Thursday learned the two boards would determine how many applicants they would like to invite for in-depth interviews, which would be conducted in executive session on Sept. 17.
Wednesday’s meeting will begin as an open meeting, and then move to executive session to discuss the candidates’ proposals and contractual details.
Both districts have experienced rising costs and decreasing enrollment.
