Sentencings set in assault, DWI cases

LITTLE VALLEY — Sentencing has been set Oct. 20 for Eric R. Smith, 18, of Olean, who pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree assault in connection with a July 8 incident in Olean in which another man was seriously injured. Smith is being held in Cattaraugus County Jail.

Sentencing is set Nov. 24 for Parker J. Peckyno, 21, of Derrick City, Pa., who pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and driving without a license. When he was stopped May 27 in Olean, he had a blood-alcohol count of 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said several other defendants were arraigned, entered not guilty pleas, and their cases have been adjourned for further action:

Giovanni J. Salmonson, 17, of Allegany, being held in the county jail on $10,000 bail, pleaded not guilty to second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree assault in a July 12 incident outside a motel in Allegany in which a knife was used to injure another man.

Elliott James, 46, and Patricia Gray, 45, both from Olean and both now in the county jail, pleaded not guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance in connection with their Feb. 15 arrests in Olean relating to the sale of crack cocaine.

David J. Maul, 46, of Olean, being held in the county jail on $10,000 bail, pleaded not guilty to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine. He was arrested July 14, 2007, in Olean.

Michael M. Chase, 17, of Olean, now in the county jail, pleaded not guilty to second-degree gang assault, second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a July 9 incident in Olean in which another man was injured.

Donald T. Dillenburg, 29, of Yorkshire, pleaded not guilty to second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a Jan. 29 incident in the Town of Yorkshire in which another man was seriously injured.

Frederick L. Colburn, 19, of Delevan, pleaded not guilty to first-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He was charged in connection with activities involving a person under age 11 between December and January in the Village of Delevan.
