New charges filed in metal theft
OAKFIELD — Additional felony burglary charges have been filed by Genesee County sheriff’s deputies against an Oakfield man who was jailed last month on grand larceny counts.
Roy D. Hooten, 47, of Gibson Avenue, had bail set at $20,000 on the new charges. Deputies said he stole several metal items from the former Path Truck Lines terminal on Judge Road, and sold them for scrap.
The thefts allegedly occurred last month. Hooten was then accused of stealing copper wiring and other metals from power substations owned by National Grid, US Gypsum and Allen’s Foods. He is to reappear Monday before Oakfield Town Justice Thomas Graham.
