BATAVIA
City selects new fire chief
BATAVIA — Thomas Dillon of Geneseo, a retired Rochester Fire Department official, has been named the city’s new fire chief, effective Sept. 17.
He will succeed Larry F. Smith, who held the post for 28 years before retiring in May.
Dillon retired in 2000 as Rochester’s executive deputy chief, and served as acting chief for six months.
The Batavia Fire Deparment also handles ambulance service for Genesee County.
The city is in the midst of several key personnel changes. Randy D. Baker was named police chief last month.
