Arrest made in attack on man, 81, in market

JAMESTOWN — A Jamestown man was arrested for allegedly attacking an 81-year-old man in an argument at a Jamestown supermarket, Jamestown police reported Tuesday.

Jeffrey J. Kulig, 29, of Barker Street, was charged with misdemeanor assault and taken to the city jail following the 3 p. m. Sunday incident at the Quality Market on Foote Avenue.

Police said Kulig allegedly cut into the checkout line and pushed the elderly man. When the man pushed Kulig back with his shopping cart, Kulig allegedly punched him in the head several times. The elderly man suffered a cut and bump to his head and was treated at the scene.
