Oakfield man accused of scrap metal thefts
BATAVIA — An Oakfield man was arrested Wednesday on two felony counts of grand larceny following a nine-month investigation into thefts of scrap metal in Oakfield, according to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
Roy D. Hooten, 47, arrested at his Gibson Avenue home, is accused of stealing copper wiring and other metals from power substations owned by National Grid, U. S. Gypsum and Allen’s Foods on at least seven occasions.
