ST. BONAVENTURE
Science center named for alumnus is dedicated
OLEAN — Students, faculty and donors were on hand Wednesday to dedicate St. Bonaventure University’s new $14.6 million science center.
The 46,500-square-foot center houses computer science, laboratory and classroom space, biology labs, organic and chemistry labs, a natural world lab, faculty offices and a 150-seat amphitheater.
The William F. Walsh Science Center is named for the Bonaventure alumnus, former Syracuse mayor and three-term congressman, who is now 96. He was unable to attend the ceremony Wednesday.
His son, Rep. James T. Walsh, R-Syracuse — who helped secure funding for the project — was on campus to cut the ceremonial ribbon for the new building.
