School districts get new administrators
BATAVIA — When the new school year begins, the Elba Central School District will have two new principals, while Batavia will have a new principal and a new superintendent.
Elba has hired Jerome Piwko, 40, of Lancaster as junior-senior high school principal. He also has worked in Albion Central and in Westfield and Fredonia schools.
Piwko will succeed Jason Smith of Batavia, who is taking over as principal of Elba Elementary School. Smith, who had been an assistant principal at Albion Central, succeeds Michael Davis, who is moving to the Webster district.
Margaret Puzio, meanwhile, is the new superintendent of Batavia City Schools. A former deputy superintendent, she succeeds Richard G. Stutzman Jr., who had held the post for 10 years.
Jackson, one of the city’s three elementary schools, has a new principal in Shawn M. Clark. She succeeds Dawn Olczak, principal for 11 years.
Two school superintendents — Edward
J. Orman at Pavilion Central and Gregory Geer at Byron-Bergen — already have announced their retirements at the close of the coming year.
