Health Department to offer three free rabies clinics

OLEAN — The Cattaraugus County Health Department will provide free rabies vaccines to dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets at three clinics in September.

Owners can bring pets to the Department of Public Works garages at one of the following locations from 4:30 to 7:30 p. m. on these dates:

• Sept. 9 — Markhams.

• Sept. 11 — Allegany.

• Sept. 16 — Franklinville. Rabies vaccines are required for all

cats, dogs and domesticated ferrets by four months of age, but not less than 12 weeks. Cats and dogs receive a booster one year later and every three years thereafter. Ferrets must be vaccinated annually. For more information, call 373-8050, or (800) 251-2584.
