Mayhem at Darien Lake fest results in 18 arrests
DARIEN — The Rockstar Mayhem Festival at Darien Lake on Tuesday proved to be aptly named, as Genesee County sheriff’s deputies arrested 18 people, mostly for alcohol and marijuana violations, disorderly conduct, trespass or harassment.
The most serious incident led to the arrest of Jeremy P. Telvock, 32, of Auburn, who was charged with attempted assault on a police officer after allegedly striking a deputy escorting him from the concert venue.
Sheriff’s officials pointed out that it was an all-day concert that started early in the afternoon.
“I wouldn’t characterize it as something out of the ordinary,” Sheriff’s Sgt. James Meier said. “You’re going to have some concerts that are going to be worse than other concerts. It just is what it is.”
The 18 people arrested included three from Orchard Park and one each from Hamburg, Depew, Gowanda and Yorkshire. The arrest list includes seven teenagers, two of them 16 years old, and a 42-year-old man.
