Jury clears Olean man of burglary, assault charges
LITTLE VALLEY — An Olean man was acquitted of burglary and assault charges in a domestic incident following one hour of deliberations during a two-day trial in Cattaraugus County Court this week.
James Williams, 25, was indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree burglary, third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief at a house on West Henley Street in Olean last July.
Raymond Bulson of Portville, Williams’ attorney, said charges were brought against him by a former live-in girlfriend who testified that he broke in and beat her up. Williams told the jury she was lying and that he was with another woman in Allegany on that date.
