Two Florida men accused of Farmersville burglary
FARMERSVILLE — Kenneth A. Davis, 39, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and David D. Tester, 28, of Palatka, Fla., who were apprehended Monday as they fled from police in Franklinville, have been charged with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property stemming from an alleged home burglary in Farmersville.
Investigator Carol Panus of the the State Police Machias Station said a homeowner saw the men leaving a home in Farmersville. When Trooper Brendan Bryman initiated a traffic stop, the men fled in a pickup truck which had been reported stolen Saturday in Jacksonville Beach.
Several police agencies joined in a chase through the village of Franklinville, which took the suspects and officers through a grove of trees, over tombstones and ended at the foot of a steep hill in Mount Prospect Cemetery, where the truck crashed and the suspects fled on foot.
Davis was apprehended by troopers at about 2 p. m. in the Rogers’ Shurfine grocery store on Main Street. Tester, who was sighted by several residents in the area, was captured at 4:12 p. m. less than a mile east of the cemetery in a wooded area off Sunset Road with the assistance of the State Police Aviation and K-9 unit.
The men were arraigned Monday night in Farmersville Town Court and are held in Cattaraugus County Jail.
