GCC board supports expansion of athletic fields
BATAVIA — The Genesee Community College board of trustees at its monthly meeting Monday affirmed its support for expansion of the college athletic fields, the installation of synthetic turf and refurbishing the gymnasium and locker rooms.
The $4.1 million part of the college’s 10-year master plan won the support last week of GCC’s sponsor, the County Legislature.
The next step is to submit the project to the State University of New York, whose approval also is needed. Construction probably will start next spring.
The trustees also elected a new chairwoman to succeed Marcia H. Noonan. She is Laurie J. Miller of Willow Ridge Farm in Alexander, who has served as a trustee since 2000.
Named vice chairman was Charles R. Ruffino of Batavia. Maureen T. Marshall of Elba was elected secretary.
