Dairy Queen drive-thru to open after car crash
LAKEWOOD — The drive-thru at Dairy Queen will reopen Wednesday, after the front east corner of the building was extensively damaged in a car accident Saturday night.
Lee Cain, who operates the Fairmount Avenue business, said the restaurant portion will be closed indefinitely, but said the process to get it reopened should be “fairly quick.”
Lakewood-Busti police said Eathan Fardink, 17, of Mayville, was apparently westbound on Fairmount shortly after 9 p. m. when he blacked out. His vehicle went off the north side of the road, struck a parked car and then hit the front corner of the building.
The front end of the car penetrated the building, demolishing a couple of booths, along with tables and chairs.
A woman inside with her children was hit by flying debris. The woman was treated at WCA Hospital, as was Fardink. The children were not injured, deputies said.
