Arraignment set for suspect in attempted murder case
LITTLE VALLEY — An Olean man named in a grand jury indictment charging him with attempted murder and assault will be arraigned July 14 in Cattaraugus County Court.
Cyrus Y. Reed, 48, was indicted on charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said Reed met the victim Feb. 14 at a bar in the City of Olean and at about 2 a. m., behind Bradner Stadium, pulled out a knife and slashed the man in the neck.
Reed was arrested following a police chase on Route 417 in the City of Olean.
Several others named in a grand jury report to Judge Larry M. Himelein also will be arraigned July 14.
Leslie R. John, 33, of Salamanca— seconddegree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, arrested Dec. 7 in the City of Salamanca with more than 4 ounces of cocaine intended for sale.
Todd M. Moore, 43, of Pleasantville, Pa. — second-degree assault, third-degree assault, two counts of second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment; for three alleged attacks in the City of Olean, on May 29, 2007, Jan. 1, 2007, and Oct. 4, 2006.
Thomas S. George, 24, of Salamanca— driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and traffic violations; Jan. 6 in the City of Salamanca.
Sharkey said the following people charged Thursday with drug crimes involving crack cocaine in the City of Olean are scheduled to be arraigned July 14:
David L. Maull, 46, of Olean— thirddegree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, June 15, 2006. He was sent to the county jail without bail.
David A. Foster, 42, of Olean — thirddegree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, Sept. 8 and Oct. 15. He was sent to the county jail without bail.
Samantha Wright, 32, of Olean — two charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Oct. 31 and Dec. 1. She was sent to the county jail and bail was set at $25,000. Her case was assigned to attorney Steven Wright.
Thomas Washington, 19, of Olean — third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Jan. 11. He was released to the supervision of the county Probation Department.
Willester York, 45, of Olean — two charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, June 1, 2007, and July 5. He was released to the supervision of the Probation Department.
Steffenie Raecher, 20, of Lackawanna — third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, July 20, 2006. She was released to the supervision of the Probation Department.
