Garage burglar sentenced to prison

LITTLE VALLEY — A Randolph man convicted of garage burglaries was sentenced Monday in Cattaraugus County Court to serve two consecutive terms of up to three years in prison.

Charles M. Hecht, 22, currently in the County Jail, was sentenced by Judge Larry

M. Himelein to serve two consecutive prison terms of one to three years and to pay $2,000 restitution.

District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said Hecht was convicted of third-degree burglary of a garage Oct. 5 in the Town of Yorkshire; third-degree attempted burglary of a garage Jan. 9 in the Town of Machias; and Dec. 3 in the Town of Randolph.

In another sentencing, Brian M. Maull, 22, of Olean, was sentenced to five years’ probation and community service for his conviction of third-degree burglary.

Brian D. Salomon, 21, and Eric F. Nowak, 23, both of Lackawanna, were each sentenced to five years’ probation, including 40 hours of community service, for their conviction of third-degree attempted burglary June 22, 2007, at the J. N. Adam Development Center in the Town of Perrysburg, when they stole copper pipes.

Austin C. Brown, 19, of Gowanda, was sentenced to five years’ probation including 100 hours of community service and restitution for his conviction of third-degree attempted burglary of a Gowanda highway barn Dec. 20.

Nicole A. Pierce, 27, of Salamanca, was sentenced to three years’ probation, including 100 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine, for her conviction of driving while intoxicated May 29, 2007, in the Town of Ellicottville.

Edward Wendt, 62, of Yorkshire, was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge and $928 restitution for his conviction of attempted aggravated cruelty to animals June 14, 2007, in the Town of Yorkshire.

Dorothy M. Wohlhueter, 49, of Yorkshire, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and without a license Jan. 26 in the Town of Yorkshire.

Scott M. Fuller, 31, of Delevan, pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted burglary July 6 in the Town of Yorkshire at Larry Haven’s Scrap Yard.

He will be sentenced Sept. 2. Sentencing was set for July 28 for Leshawn Kimbrough, 17, of Olean, who pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal mischief March 11, 2007, in the City of Olean when he stole a car and damaged it.

Sharkey said several other cases were adjourned for future motions.

Bryan J. McKenyon, 45, and Richard

D. Farnham Jr., 30, both of Salamanca, each pleaded not guilty to to charges of third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools Dec. 7 at the J. N. Adam Development Center.

Ronald Harris, 37, Buffalo, pleaded not guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and violations Dec. 14 in Olean.

Steven A. Atkinson , 47, currently in the County Jail, pleaded not guilty to three counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance Sept. 21 and Oct. 4 in the Village of Franklinville.

Barbara A. Goodemote, 46, of Delevan, pleaded not guilty to DWI Dec. 7 in the Town of Yorkshire.
