BATAVIA
Rotary Club honors 5 Paul Harris Fellows
BATAVIA — The Batavia Rotary Club saluted five new Paul Harris Fellows during the club’s annual awards night Tuesday at Stafford Country Club.
In the first husband-and-wife induction, William R. Fritts, an insurance executive, and his wife, Theresa, choreographer for many Rotary shows, were honored. Others were Genesee County Manager Jay A. Gsell, club secretary Carol Grasso and retired librarian Martha
M. Spinnegan.
In the 30 years since the honor was
first given, more than half of the active men and women in the 102-member club have received Rotary’s top award, named for the founder of Rotary.
To be eligible, the club donates $1,000 to the Rotary International Foundation to recognize a member’s service to club and community. The Batavia Rotary Club, founded in 1919, is the city’s oldest and largest service club.
