BORDER CROSSINGS

Double holidays Monday should crowd bridges

Story tools:

Holiday traffic is expected to cause major traffic congestion at the region’s international bridges Monday—Columbus Day in the United States and Thanksgiving in Canada.

“Travelers are reminded to check traffic at all local border crossings within the Buffalo Niagara region and select the crossing that is least-congested,” said Gregory Bennett, a spokesman for U. S. Customs&Border Protection.

Travelers can check on border traffic conditions by calling the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission’s toll-free number at (800) 715-6722 or by checking one of five bridge traffic Web sites, Bennett said.

The Web site addresses are cbp.gov, cbsa-asfc. gc.ca, nittec.org, peace-bridge. com and niagarafallsbridges.com.
