Seized cocaine had $800,000 street value
NIAGARA FALLS, Ont.—Canada Border Services agents at the Rainbow Bridge seized cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $800,000 that they found last weekend in a vehicle coming from the United States, the agency announced Wednesday.
Officers arrested the vehicle’s driver, a 22-year-old New York State resident, and his passenger, a 23-year-old woman from New Jersey. Both were charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and importing a controlled substance.
The agency said officers used an X-ray machine on two pieces of suspicious luggage and found seven packages containing 6.6 kilos of cocaine duct-taped and concealed with the linings of the bags. A spring-loaded baton also was seized.
