BORDER CROSSINGS

Heavy traffic warning issued for Easter holiday

Story tools:

Periods of heavy traffic are expected during the Easter holiday weekend on the area’s four international bridges between the U. S. and Canada, U. S. Customs and Border Protection advises. Travelers should make sure they have the proper documents to ease their entry into both countries.

“We are expecting to see an increase in traffic conditions starting as early as Thursday afternoon,” Joseph J. Wilson, acting director of field operations for the Buffalo Field Office, said Wednesday. “We strongly encourage all travelers to monitor traffic conditions and factor in sufficient time to cross the border.”

Officials also expect heavier-than-normal volume on Easter Monday, a holiday in most parts of Canada. Traffic conditions are available by calling toll-free (800) 715-6722 or visiting www.cbp.gov or www.nittec.org .
