Sadistic kitten killer being sought by police

Story tools:

Buffalo police are looking for the person who hung a kitten by its neck from a utility line on Ontario Street over the weekend.

The dead cat was found dangling from a utility line in the 400 block of Ontario Street at about 9:20 a. m. Sunday.

Police believe the cat was strangled when someone tied a shoelace, which was attached to a sneaker, around its neck, and then threw the sneaker over the line.

“At this point, Buffalo police don’t believe the incident was gang-related,” said Buffalo Police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.

A National Grid worker removed the kitten from the line on Sunday night and then turned it over to detectives at the Northwest Police District.

The Police Department’s photography and evidence units also responded to the scene.

The utility line was reportedly a suspension line with no power.
