Interim principal selected
The Lake Shore Central School Board on Tuesday night approved the appointment of Christopher J. Walsh as the interim principal of the high school.
This will be Walsh’s second administrative post at the high school. He served as assistant principal there from August 2002 through October 2008, when he left to be assistant principal at the middle school.
Before completing administrative course work at Buffalo State College, Walsh taught both Latin and math at Williamsville North and South high schools for 18 years. Walsh earned his master’s degree in arts and humanities from the University at Buffalo.
Walsh replaces Terrance Redman, who is on administrative leave.
Superintendent Jeffrey R. Rabey noted Walsh’s interim status is indefinite, and it is unknown when the district will hire a full-time administrator for the position.
After the meeting, Walsh said he has enjoyed his time with the district thus far. “Some districts say they’re a family,” Walsh said, “but [Lake Shore] really means family.” Walsh cited Lake Shore Central’s facilities, students and sense of community as all being extremely positive aspects of the district.
In other matters, the board discussed concerns over a possible conflict of interest on board subcommittees.
Board President Cynthia A. Latimore said a high percentage of parent representatives serving on the subcommittees also are employed by the district. The board plans to delve into the issue during its next work session.
