Construction plans are in motion for all 13 buildings in Ken-Ton district
Plans are moving forward on construction activities at all 13 schools in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District, School Board member Charles J. Wuest said Tuesday.
Wuest noted that before Tuesday’s meeting, the School Board was unsure whether all district schools would be included in the renovation and repair project.
“No schools will be left out, so that in itself is good news,” Wuest said.
“We put together a budget that makes sense, with no cost to the taxpayers.”
A presentation on the construction project will take place at the board’s next meeting.
Board President Melissa Brinson noted that the project will address health and safety concerns and cover brick and roofing repairs, where needed.
Superintendent Mark Mondanaro said the project is long overdue.
Brinson also noted for interested members that an education law conference, sponsored by the Erie County Association of School Boards, will take place Aug. 5.
Not addressed during the meeting was an audit by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, released June 18.
DiNapoli found that between July 2006 and October 2008, the district had accumulated more than $22 million in excess funding that should have been used for tax relief.
