Deputies, firefighters save ducks stuck in storm sewer

Story tools:

A mother duck from Clarence can thank Erie County sheriff’s deputies for rescuing her brood from a storm sewer Wednesday.

Sheriff’s patrol “received a call of a frantic mother duck with ducklings stuck in a storm sewer behind a toy store on Transit Road, Clarence,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s department.

Deputies Darryl DeMari and Steven Smith responded, the report stated, and with the help of firefighters from Clarence Center, rescued the ducklings and reunited them with their mother.
