Clarence teacher named Erie County historian

Story tools:

Doug Kohler, a history teacher at Clarence Middle School, has been appointed Erie County historian.

Kohler, a member of the steering committee for the Clarence Bicentennial, has been helping other municipalities prepare their milestone celebrations. He also is preparing a commemorative event for the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.

His office will be in the Central Library in downtown Buffalo, near the rare books collection.

“I’m more than happy to find the time to help the towns and villages that have projects that need an extra set of hands and can benefit from my experience in local history,” he said.

Researchers may e-mail him at doug.kohler@erie.gov .
