2 face felony charges in home invasion
State police have arrested two men on felony charges in connection with an attempted home invasion in which several shots were fired Tuesday evening on Crittenden Road in Newstead.
Charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon are Albert J. Bauer, 39, of Cedar Street, Akron, and Norman P. Michael, 23, of Bank Street, Batavia.
They are being held in the Erie County Holding Center without bail pending a court appearance Wednesday. Additional charges are pending.
Troopers said a man in a dark hooded sweat shirt knocked on the door of the Crittenden Road home at about 9 p. m. Tuesday and asked to use the phone.
As the resident was about to let him in, he saw the man reach into his pocket and feared for his safety.
When he shut the door in the man’s face, at least five shots were fired into the door and the wall. The gunman then fled.
No one was injured, troopers said.
