Grant provides pupils daily healthy snacks
Akron Central Schools elementary pupils are enjoying snacks of fresh fruit and vegetables thanks to a federal grant.
Food Service Director Barbara Goodman was successful in obtaining a $52,000 grant under the federal Food Conservation and Energy program.
The pupils have a hand in selecting what snacks they would like. The program encourages children to see the nutritional value of eating healthy food instead of high-calorie processed snacks.
