Reardon joins Kenmore court race

Story tools:

The list of candidates for Kenmore village justice continues to grow.

The newest candidate running for the one year remaining on the term of J. Mark Gruber, who was elected a Town of Tonawanda justice last fall, is village prosecutor Scott Reardon.

Reardon, a Democrat, has been practicing general law in private practice since last November. Before that, he spent eight years with the Erie County district attorney’s office, where he headed the gang-related crimes unit and was assistant chief of the sexual assault bureau.

“I think that the village needs someone who can be fair and impartial but still tough on issues of importance,” said Reardon, who is making his first bid for elective office.

“I’m just running on my credentials,” he said. “I’m the one with criminal experience. I have been on both sides.”

Previously declared candidates include Frank J. Longo, a registered Republican who is a county attorney in Erie County Family Court, and attorney Kevin

T. Stocker, also a Republican, who has served as a prosecutor and deputy attorney for Kenmore and the Town of Tonawanda.

Both have been unsuccessful candidates for elected office.

Caucuses will be held next Monday to determine who will run on party lines.
