TOWN OF TONAWANDA
Patriot Golf Day 2008 to aid soldiers’ families
Golf facilities in the Town of Tonawanda will participate in Patriot Golf Day 2008 — actually a weekend — to raise money to educate families of disabled and fallen soldiers.
Donations of at least a dollar will be solicited from Friday to Monday for Folds of Honor Foundation, founded by a veteran who was aboard a flight where one soldier accompanied the body of his brother back home. Donations will be accepted at Sheridan Park and Brighton Park golf courses and Brighton Park Driving Range.
Town Supervisor Anthony F. Caruana somberly related the story of the organization’s founding at the Town Board’s work session Monday afternoon. Caruana, a retired Army brigadier general, said he remembered many such missions.
