East Amherst woman, 73, struck, killed on Transit
An East Amherst woman was killed when she was struck by a car Monday morning near Transit and North French roads, state police reported.
Maureen P. Micks, 73, died as the result of injuries she suffered in the accident shortly before 11 a. m. A vehicle driven by David E. Militello, 41, of East Amherst, was making a left turn onto Transit from North French Road when he saw Micks attempting to cross the road, state police reported.
Troopers said Militello attempted to stop but was unable to do so in time to avoid striking Micks who was rushed to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
