Clinton says she will work with GM on preserving jobs
WASHINGTON — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N. Y., last week pledged to work with General Motors “as a partner” to ensure the preservation of jobs at GM’s Town of Tonawanda engine plant.
In a letter to Rick Wagoner Jr., GM’s chairman and chief executive officer, Clinton said she is “pleased that you intend to forge ahead with plans to launch production of the diesel engine facility at GM’s Tonawanda Engine Plant.
“With gasoline prices skyrocketing in every part of the country, I applaud you for your vision in setting forth a strategy in expanding GM’s footprint in diesel technology given its overwhelmingly positive fuel economy impact.”
