Amherst police recovered a stolen handgun and some Ecstasy pills in an investigation launched after they stopped a suspicious vehicle driving around a Main Street parking lot early Thursday.

So many people showed up to voice support or opposition to the Amherst Town Centre development Monday that hundreds packed the Amherst Town Board chambers. Town police officers were forced to bar entry to anyone who didn't have a seat, resulting in a human traffic jam that extended down the hall and rear staircase.
