June 22

• A 50-year-old man in the 6200 block of Tonawanda Creek Road in Lockport told sheriff’s deputies that someone threw a glass bottle through the front window of his apartment the night before. A neighbor said four men in a dark colored vehicle pulled to the side of the building and one got out and threw the bottle. Damage was estimated at $350.

• William Sandy, 44, of South Street, Lockport, was charged by Lockport police with driving while intoxicated at 3:12 a. m. on Locust Street. He was stopped and charged with failure to stop for a sign at Pine Street and Lincoln Avenue and also charged with having an open alcoholic beverage in a vehicle.

• A man in a Main Street business in the 400 block told Niagara Falls police he left $4,000 in a black computer bag in an unlocked locker when he left on Sunday and said the money was gone when he returned Monday.

• An OfficeMax sign fell, damaging two cars in the parking lot in the 8300 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard, just before 9:30 a. m. The cars were parked in front of the building and were not seriously damages, police reported.

June 23

• A 34-year-old 17th Street, Niagara Falls, man told city police that he parked his Mitsubishi across the street from his house overnight and in the morning found the window smashed and two electric guitars worth $950 stolen.

• A woman in the 2400 block of Grand Avenue told Niagara Falls police that someone came into her garage overnight and removed the dashboard DVD, television, CD and global positioning system from her Lincoln Town Car. She told police the alarm had been activated. Loss was estimated at $900.

• Peter J. DiGiacomo, 22, of Green Street, Lockport, was stopped by sheriff’s deputies at 2:25 a. m. on South Transit Road in Lockport and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right. Patrol said DiGiacomo registered a blood alcohol reading of .14 percent, but told deputies he was driving erratically because his passenger “wound him up.”

• A 69-year-old woman told Niagara Falls police she moved to Athens, Tenn., from Terrace Drive in Niagara Falls in May and found several items missing from boxes she had packed, including a string of pearls worth $2,000. Total loss was $6,500.

June 24

• William P. Matthews, 35, of Jerald Ave., Niagara Falls, was stopped by sheriff’s deputies, who said he was driving with multiple items hanging from his rear view mirror on Military Road in the Town of Niagara just before 3 a. m. and was found to be driving with a suspended license. Police located two empty Ziploc bags that he said had contained marijuana. He was charged with obstructed vision, aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver.

• A 20-year-old pregnant woman from Rainbow Park in Ransomville reported that she had been hit in the eye with a closed fist when she entered Boyer’s Tavern at 8757 Ridge Road in Hartland on Sunday. The woman told sheriff’s deputies the fight started when she and the men she was with entered the bar. The men were not interested in criminal charges, but the woman said she was afraid her pregnancy was affected by the fight and was planning to seek medical attention. Charges were pending, deputies said.

• A 59-year-old Gardenwood Drive, Lockport, woman reported to sheriff’s deputies that between Friday and Saturday someone had stolen 476 morphine tablets from her cupboard. She told deputies she usually kept the pills in a safe in her home, but her home recently had been burglarized and the safe had been stolen.

• A man living on Wilson-Cambria Road told a Niagara County sheriff’s deputy someone took an $800 laptop from inside his home between noon and 5 p. m. The man said he was not sure if the door was locked at the time of the theft.

• A 24-year-old woman in the 3800 block of Hill Road in Wheatfield told sheriff’s deputies that she returned home at 8:30 p. m. and found her door had been kicked in and a safe had been stolen which had contained approximately $6,500. Nothing else in the house was disturbed.

• A$6,200 outdrive that had been removed from an inboard boat and was in storage at a Walmore Road, Wheatfield, address, was reported stolen by a Buffalo man, sheriff’s deputies said. Deputies said they were told the theft happened sometime in the past week.

June 25

• A 56-year-old Youngstown Road, Wilson, man told sheriff’s deputies that someone was trying to sell his $3,000, 12-gauge shotgun and global positioning system at a local bar. He told deputies he believes that the items had been stolen sometime in the past few days to support a drug habit.

• A German shepherd guide dog, valued at $40,000, was attacked by a pit bull and a mixed brindle at 8:30 a. m. in the 2500 block of Ferchen Road in Wheatfield. A neighbor who observed the attack told sheriff’s deputies that the owner was taking out his garbage when one dog came up and ripped away a piece of the guide dog’s rear leg area. The owner’s wife was able to scare the dogs off. The SPCA and Wheatfield Dog Control Officer were able to secure the dogs without incident. The dogs’ owner said she did not know how they got loose. The guide dog needed emergency surgery for its injuries, deputies said. Charges were under investigation with the town dog control officer, deputies said.

• A North Adam Street, Lockport, woman told sheriff’s deputies she accidentally left her wallet at the checkout counter of Tops on South Transit Road in Lockport the previous evening while buying groceries. She said she called this morning to see if anyone had found it and was told that it was found immediately after she left the store. However, she told deputies that the wallet was missing $510, and store personnel told her their camera system was “down the previous night.” She said they also did not explain why they did not call her or a police agency when they found the wallet.

• James W. Carson, 21, of 17th Street, was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and petit larceny after Niagara Falls court officers said he spit over a second floor balcony in the new municipal complex that looks down into the main lobby, then struggled with officers. He is also accused of stealing a banana from the lobby snack bar.

June 26

• A Town of Lockport man told the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office he was jumped by three men wearing black hoodies in front of apartments on Dysinger Road, near Raymond Road, just before 1 a. m. The victim suffered cuts to his face, head and arms, as well as bloody knuckles and pain in his ribs, according to a sheriff’s report. He was treated at the scene and later transported to an undisclosed hospital.
