Sewer District workers ratify new contract

Story tools:

WHEATFIELD—Employees of the Niagara County Sewer District, who have been working under terms of an expired contract since the end of 2005, ratified a new deal this week.

Glenn Miller, negotiator for Teamsters Local 264, said the sewer workers voted 9-2 in favor of the contract Tuesday. The Teamsters Union represents 14 Sewer District employees.

Miller said the new contract resulted from a June 15 session with a mediator from the state Public Employment Relations Board.

Miller said he wouldn’t disclose any contract terms until the County Legislature approves the deal. The Legislature may vote on it as soon as July 28.
