June 13

• Melba D. Hicks, 38, was arrested just after 3 a. m. in the 1700 block of Niagara Street, Niagara Falls police said. The Niagara Avenue resident was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and one other traffic violation. Police said she drove her car into the front steps of a house and heavily damaged a fence at the property. Her blood-alcohol level at the time of her arrest was 0.21 percent, police said.

• A Niagara Falls man was arrested after police said he became upset with a woman in his apartment complex on 26th Street and urinated in their front lawn, in full view of her two preteen daughters. Joseph W. Kenney, 45, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child following the 1:30 p. m. incident, police said.

• Jon E. Thiel, 18, of Park Lane Circle, Lockport, was charged at 2:05 a. m. on Davison Road by Lockport police with driving while intoxicated and starting a vehicle illegally. Police said Thiel was charged after he accelerated out of the parking lot of a convenience store onto the northbound lane of Davison and hit a tree on the east side. Thiel refused medical treatment, according to reports.

• A 38-year-old Lockport woman told sheriff’s deputies that two days ago at 11:30 p. m., a man punched her in the leg and began calling her names. She said he then attempted to choke her, bit the right side of her face, and slapped her. She said she waited to call 911 because she was afraid. She asked for an order of protection.

June 14

• Two suspects were wanted in the robbery of a 24-year-old man in the 1500 block of of Pierce Avenue, Niagara Falls. The victim told Niagara Falls police he was leaving the Hometown Market and two men came up to him and got into his car. He said one grabbed him in a choke hold and the other took $325.

• A employee of a store in the 1800 block of Pine Avenue told Niagara Falls police that at 1 p. m., someone came into the store and took $50 worth of candy.

• Dawn Morask, 48, of Ashland Avenue, Niagara Falls, was charged with shoplifting $121 in merchandise from Wal-Mart on Porter Road in the Town of Niagara. She was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Niagara Court, Town of Niagara police said.

June 15

• Stephen J. Demmin, 38, of Ontario Street, Lockport, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, criminal possession of a controlled substance, no seat belt and operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile phone, sheriff’s deputies said. Demmin was stopped at 7:13 p. m. at Bixler and Lockport-Olcott roads in Newfane after he was found to have no seat belt and was seen talking on a cell phone while driving. A computer check showed his license had been suspended for failure to pay a fine and a search of a the vehicle found a coffee can in the center console with a prescription bottle containing several pills for a controlled substance that did not belong to Demmin, deputies reported.

• A North Tonawanda woman was charged with harassment for allegedly punching another woman in the face on Apple Court, Town of Niagara police reported. Cameo Braham, 34, of Trails End Lane, was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Niagara Court.

June 16

• Someone stole $1,380 in American cash, $500 in Australian cash and a woman’s half-carat diamond ring set in platinum from the top dresser drawer in a bedroom of a home in the 5400 block of Comstock Road in Cambria, sheriff’s deputies said. The woman told deputies that her 89- year-old father lives there and is always home and has personal aides to assist her with his care.

June 17

• A 49-year-old Wheatfield woman told sheriff’s deputies that she was walking on Craig Drive and was attacked by two loose German shepherds. She said one bit her on the forearm, not breaking the skin, and the other bit her on the buttocks, ripping her sweat pants and leaving a red mark. She was able to fight the dogs off and run to a house to escape, but said she is afraid the dogs will attack someone else. The dog’s owner said the two dogs were accidentally let out by his 2-year-old son.

• Fraudulent purchases were reportedly made on a stolen credit card. A 30-year-old Lockport woman reported three cards stolen from a purse in an unlocked locker while she was working out at Lockport Flips on Transit Road. She said she received a call from her credit card company about six purchases, made with one of the three cards, which totaled nearly $3,000 at stores on Transit Road. An off-duty dispatcher reportedly saw three suspicious females making a purchase of a large television and followed them to their car and reported their license plate. According to investigators, they used one of the stolen credit cards. The case is now under investigation.

June 18

• A security investigator for National Grid, at 1650 New Road, told Niagara Falls police that someone cut a hole in a fence. The damage, estimated at $60, was found when the man was checking the grounds.

• A 34-year-old woman in the 500 block of Ferry Avenue told Niagara Falls police that someone has been stalking her, cut the screens in her window and left sexually explicit notes. She also found that someone had forced open a rear door, got into her bedroom and stole her underwear, bras, jewelry and an Xbox, she told police.

• Baseball cards, a bass guitar, an electric guitar, a practice amplifier and a watch were reported missing from a home in the 2300 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard in Wheatfield. Value was estimated at $1,600.

• The owner of Walck Bros. Agriculture Service, Carl W. Walck Sr., told sheriff’s deputies that someone entered a dump truck in a parking lot on Hinman Road in the Town of Lockport, damaging an overhead console and taking a citizens band radio and satellite radio. Loss and damages were estimated at $1,270.

• A Lockport High School student told sheriff’s deputies that she was walking home from school and was approached by two men in van who drove slowly past her and then stopped and propositioned her, offering her $50 to get into their van. The van stopped at 10:45 a. m. on Strauss Road and was described as a white cargo van with tinted windows and rust around the wheels. The girl said she yelled no and started walking fast and then the van sped off. All shifts and City of Lockport police were informed of the report.

• A shoplifter who fled Tops Market and hid from sheriff’s deputies on South Transit Road in the Town of Lockport was found behind a fence hiding under a tree, sheriff’s deputies said. Deputies threatened that they would use a Taser and the man came out. Robert S. Leff, 46, of no known address, was charged with petit larceny for taking various DVDs, valued at $24.99 from the store at 8:36 a. m., deputies said.

June 19

• Wayne T. Phillips, 46, of Walnut Avenue, Niagara Falls, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a 4:24 p. m. crash in the vicinity of Falls Street, Niagara Falls police said.

• Sometime between 10 a. m. and 6

p. m., a piggy bank containing $200 in assorted coins was stolen from a 23rd Street home, Niagara Falls police reported. Police said that the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s mother moved out of the residence during that time frame and is suspected of having stolen the money from a spare bedroom.

• The owner of Tammy Jo’s Cafe, at 2911 Main St. in Newfane, told sheriff’s deputies that a man took a Relay for Life collection can from her restaurant counter just after 4 p. m. She said the can contained approximately $25. She said the man, who left in a red pickup, could have been a representative of the Relay for Life group, but never said anything to any of her employees.

• James A. Clark, 24, of Niagara Falls Boulevard, Niagara Falls, was charged by Niagara Falls police with harassment and endangering the welfare of child at 9:20 a. m. A woman said she had an argument with him while holding her one-month-old child and Clark pushed her into the wall. She said she went into another room to get away and he slapped her twice and then shoved her again into a wall, according to reports.

June 20

• A Newfane woman was charged with driving while intoxicated at 1:26 a. m. on Lockport-Olcott Road in Newfane, sheriff’s deputies said. Holly A. Smith, 39, of Autumnview Drive, was southbound on Lockport-Olcott Road when sheriff’s deputies reportedly spotted her talking on a cellular telephone while driving. In addition to DWI, she was charged with using a mobile phone on a highway and having a suspended registration.

• John A. Paonessa, 39, of Lewiston, was arrested at 4:15 a. m. at 22nd and Falls streets, Niagara Falls police said. The Saunders Settlement Road resident was charged with DWI and a lights infraction.

• Brian E. Anthony, 24, of West Britton Road, Wheatfield, was charged with petit larceny at the Summit mall on Williams Road in Wheatfield just before 4:30 p. m. Anthony was accused of taking a DVD player from the store. He was found by deputies pushing a shopping cart down Niagara Falls Boulevard and was taken into custody after he was identified, according to reports.

• Clifford A. Davis, 47, of Church Street, Lockport, was charged by Lockport police with third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief at 3:15 a. m. in his home. A woman said she had an argument with Davis and he grabbed her by the neck and threatened her and then tried to damage her car by pulling all the wires out. Then her 9-year-old son got in between the two adults and she told police that Davis grabbed the 9-year-old, lifted him up and threw him and he landed on the sidewalk, according to police. An order of protection was requested for both the woman and the boy.

June 21

• Marissa N. Gallegos, 21, of Shenk Road, Sanborn, was charged by Lockport police with driving while intoxicated and improper lane use at 2 a. m. on Locust Street. Police said Gallegos was swerving side to side, crossed the center line and then hit the curb.
